Bryan O’Sullivan Studio is looking to hire an intermediate interior designer with 7 to 10 years of experience in high-end hospitality and residential interior design to join its office in New York.
We are seeking experienced and motivated designers with the drive and skills to fill a hands-on design role in our growing office in NYC.
Below is a summary of the intermediate interior designer’s responsibilities:
- works with the lead designer to create and develop the design of a project, including mood boards, reference boards, and preliminary 2D and 3D sketches
- produces design documents, from concept through construction phases, with the rest of the design team, under the guidance of the lead designer
- is fully proficient in using both AutoCAD and SketchUp to produce design and construction documents
- has experience in developing construction documents through plans, elevations, architectural details, millwork details, and schedules for finishes, electrical, plumbing, etc.
- has a strong understanding of all required elements to produce a complete and coordinated sheet set suitable for construction
- has experience in construction administration, including the review of submittals and RFIs
- has established knowledge of, and relationships with, vendors/suppliers and their products that contribute to the intermediate interior designer’s development of the design
- is confident in coordinating with consultants directly, throughout the duration of a project, in an insightful and organized manner
- researches information about pricing, sourcing, and lead times
- has a proficient understanding of hospitality standards, codes, requirements, and hotel operations
The ideal candidate’s background includes:
- 7 to 10 years of experience in high-end hospitality and residential interior design, including single-family residences, hotel suites, food & beverage spaces, lobbies, and amenity spaces
- experience working for and within high-end, renowned interior design firms
- proficiency in designing millwork and interior architectural details
- knowledge of fabricators for bespoke furniture, lighting, and joinery
- degree in interior design or architecture from an accredited institution
- legal and physical residency in New York City or its vicinity
- established legal permission to work in the US.
- willingness to work from our office in Manhattan full time
Full proficiency is required for the following:
- AutoCAD
- SketchUp
- MS Office Suite
- Adobe Creative Suite
- oral and written communication in English
The candidate would also ideally be proficient in the following:
- Enscape
- VRay
- Mac software and programs
- Bluebeam
We may ask the candidate to perform a brief test of proficiency in either Sketchup or AutoCAD, for the sole purpose of assessing the skill level in that software.
