Key responsibilities:
- lead and manage the entire design process for projects, ensuring that design development aligns with project objectives, client expectations, and regulatory standards
- oversee the work of internal and external design teams, including architects, engineers, and consultants, ensuring cohesion and coordination across disciplines
- review and critique designs at various stages, from concept to detailed design, ensuring compliance with quality, functionality, and aesthetic goals
- collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to define project design objectives, budgets and timelines
- develop and manage the design program, ensuring key milestones are met and the design is delivered within the agreed timeline and budget
- identify design risks and develop mitigation strategies to resolve potential issues early in the project lifecycle
- act as the primary point of contact between the client, project teams, and design consultants regarding design-related matters
- lead presentations and design reviews with clients to ensure alignment with their vision and expectations
- ensure that all design outputs comply with local codes, regulations, and industry standards, including safety, sustainability, and accessibility guidelines
- implement and monitor quality control procedures for the design process to ensure high standards of workmanship and accuracy. 11. Coordinate and facilitate the approval process with relevant regulatory bodies and authorities
- collaborate with cost consultants to ensure the design remains within budget constraints while maintaining the integrity of the client’s vision
- identify opportunities for cost savings and lead value engineering efforts without compromising design quality or functionality
- lead, mentor, and develop junior design team members, developing an environment of innovation, collaboration and excellence
- provide feedback and performance evaluations for team members, helping them grow in their roles and contributing to the overall success of the department
- coordinate resource allocation to ensure that the design team is appropriately staffed to meet project demands
- stay updated with industry trends, new materials, and construction technologies, integrating innovative solutions into project designs.
Requirements:
- bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, architecture or related field
- bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture/Civil, Engineering, or related field
- minimum of 10 to 12 years of experience in design management, with a significant portion in a senior or leadership role
- experience in managing large-scale commercial, residential, or mixed-use projects is highly desirable
- proficiency in design software such for design and visualisation tools
- strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and regulations
- experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and working with a wide range of stakeholders
- licensed Architect or Engineer (preferred)
- LEED Accreditation or other sustainability certifications is an advantage
