The Role

Digifabshop Digital Fabrication Specialists are responsible for driving the design, detailing, and engineering of furniture, store fixtures and architectural components and assemblies as well as the production of direct to fabrication models, drawings, and CNC programming. Digital Fabrication Specialists work on projects ranging in size from art installations to prefabricated structures to multi-unit rollouts for national chains, and they play a key role in assisting project managers and coordinating with production teams in the fabrication process.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Reading architectural drawings in order to extract information pertinent to Digifabshop project scope.
Developing build-able, efficient component and assembly designs in collaboration with project management, production management, client design teams and consulting engineers.
Specifying and assisting in sourcing of materials appropriate to design intent, assembly logic, field construct-ability, and engineering requirements.
Developing 3D models for project components using multiple software platforms, including parametric modeling.
Developing 2D CAD drawings, with details and accuracy necessary for fabrication.
Developing shop drawings with design intent, materiality, and notations communicated clearly.
Reviewing shop drawing sets in anticipation of internal and external review.
Offline programming CNC machinery including nesting, toolpathing, collision detection, feeds and speeds, etc.
Perform other related duties as required
Meaningfully contribute to team meetings, training, policies, strategy and culture

Skills & Background

Expertise in Solidworks (or equivalent) and/or Rhino/Grasshopper. Experience with Catia is a plus.
Expertise in Autocad, or equivalent 2D CAD software.
Extensive experience designing and detailing architectural components and/or furniture assemblies.
Extensive knowledge of construction and manufacturing materials and methods, including metal, wood, stone and glass.
Experience in designing for fabrication and assembly using CNC machines. Experience with industrial robots is a plus.
