We’re Pip & Nut

(& You could be too).

We make the best nut butters & snacks you can get your paws on.

Beginning

Pip started Pip & Nut in 2015. After whizzing up nut butters at home (using natural ingredients & nothing else) she was onto something tasty. Her friends agreed. Her family agreed, and soon the people of London’s Maltby Street Market agreed.

The word - and the nut butter - started spreading. Fast. We leapt onto the shelves of Selfridges. Then Sainsbury’s. Then Wholefoods & Ocado. Then Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, Co-Op, Tesc- you get it.

Middle

We’re in every UK supermarket, but we’re not done yet (that’s why we need you). We want to keep growing while showing people that tasty food can be good for you & the planet. We’re a B Corp after all. That’s not just a pretty badge. Better business is an all-day, everyday mindset.

Next

We’re nimble: we’re the number one & fastest growing nut butter brand in the UK.

We’re tenacious: next up, we’re taking over snacking.

We’re a B Corp & proud: we’re doing all of that while looking after people & the planet. 10% of our profits go to The Pip & Nut Foundation to support organisations tackling hunger & loneliness in communities.

The squirrels are taking over. Are you in?

What you’ll be doing

Jars. Bars. Billboards. Brand activations. If it’s got to look good, you’ll probably get your paws on it.

As Creative Exec. you’ll join our in-house Creative Studio, working with our Senior Creative Manager and Copywriter & Studio Manager, as well as the wider Marketing Team. No brief, or day, is the same as you’ll work on projects across brand, shopper, packaging & more. From print ready files to digital media, you’ll have a beady-eye for detail and a growing understanding of best practice when it comes to brand codes & design principles.

Whether it’s Snacking, Nut Butter or internal team fun, you’ll keep an open mind, take feedback on board and keep asking questions to get to the bottom of the brief. You’ll build your expertise as you go, helping the in-house studio & external agency partners keep things consistent everywhere Pip & Nut shows up. P.S. you won’t be the first or last to have an in depth discussion about squirrel angles.

In a nutshell, you’ll be:

Dipping into Packaging Design & Artworking: You’ll help us make packaging that shines on shelf, working with our Senior Creative Manager across new & existing product development projects. We’re not expecting you to be packaging or print processes pro, but you should feel confident using Adobe Illustrator and have a basic understanding of Pantone Colour Books.
Creating from aisles to inboxes: Shopper, Trade & Internal Creative: You’ll whip up creatives on brief & brand guidelines across our wide range of touchpoints. That could include instore point-of-sale, digital banner ads, community emails, send out boxes, website imagery, IRL brand activations, sampling collateral, finessed buyer decks. We could go on.
A Brand Guardian: You’ll develop a beady-eye for what good looks like, spotting inconsistencies across our UK & EU markets and helping put our brand guidelines & codes into practice. As we grow, you’ll also play a role in helping update & evolve our internal guidelines.
Perfecting presentations: We love some show-stopping slides, you’ll be part of making sure our teams have what they need to deliver a proper Pip & Nut presentation for any important moment or meeting.
Building the big stuff: From concepts to asset creation, you’ll help us bring the brand to life at our big IRL events like Hackney Half & Royal Parks Half.
Lending a paw outside The Nest: You’ll help our external creative partners nail our look & feel by putting together mood boards & creative references. You’ll help out at external content shoots and, where needed, support with postproduction & editing.
An important new eye in the room: It’s always important to have a new perspective, you’ll bring your own ideas & creative insights to the table, staying curious about how your work fits into the studio’s wider plans and priorities.

Things we’re looking for (skills & credentials):

You’ll need a portfolio that shows off your attention to detail across digital, print & packaging design. Some experience of artworking for packaging is a big plus.

A year (or more) in the game. At least a year of industry in-house would be our preference, but we may consider those with agency experience.
The designer’s toolkit. Confidence in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign skills for both print & digital as well as some basic illustration skills.
Happy to show & tell. You’re getting comfortable presenting your ideas, taking on feedback & explaining why you made the choices you did.
A beady-eye for detail & deadlines. You spot the small stuff and can manage timelines, priorities & to-do lists to deliver work on time.
Thinking big. You’re looking to grow your craft and bring new ideas to Pip & Nut’s table. You also care about how your work fits into a team’s bigger plan & strategy.
AI Interrogator. You’re curious about how AI can be used as a creative tool & happy giving it a go to find ways to save the studio time.
Comfy with a camera. This isn’t essential, but some photography & videography shooting & editing skills will come in useful.

Hold Up.

We exist to 'help people love food that loves them & the planet'. To do that right, we need to build our business on fairness, making sure every team member feels they belong. That's why Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) will always be front of mind in every part of Pip & Nut - including our job applications! We're aware that women & people from different backgrounds will often only apply for jobs where they meet 100% of listed qualifications. Don't let that 100% stop you. If you know this is the role for you & you meet many, but not all, of our asks - we still want to hear from you! If there's anything we can do to help you to apply, email kim@pipandnut.com.

Our Purpose:

Help people love food, that loves them & the planet.

Our Values:

We don’t just focus on what we’re doing (we do a lot), but how we’re doing it. That big ‘how’ makes Pip & Nut unique. It gives us our edge.

We call it Squirrel Energy.

Squirrel Energy is at the centre of everything we do. Inside & outside The Nest. It’s what we value in our individual squirrels & how we want to be seen as a whole.

Our four values get into the nutty gritty of what squirrel energy is. Have a read:

All Paws Together: While we may be individual creatures, our team spirit is infectious.
Curious by Nature: Ears pricked at all times ready to discover something about ourselves, our shoppers, our products & the environment around us.
Make Every Nut Count: Us squirrels will find creative NO, INGENIOUS! Ways to get stuff done.
Take a Leap: For us, the ability to leap from one tree to another on branches that bend & flex is about being bold, agile & adaptable.

Other good stuff:

We’re a living wage employer & think people should be paid fairly for the work they do. That includes you.

Good news, everyone in our team has a bonus. We don’t hide our calculations either. Your bonus (10% on base plus another 5% on stretch, that’s up to 15% max) is made up of key company & individual performance indicators.

EMI Options scheme [aka Squirrel Share Scheme] - every squirrel plays a key role in growing Pip & Nut, so we all have a piece of the pie (or peanut). For every year you stick with us we’ll give you additional shares to say thanks for the hard work.

Anything else? Loads actually. From Day 1 you’ll get:

25 days holiday plus our “Squirrel Holidays”
Your birthday off
12:30pm finishes on Fridays in August
AND we hibernate for Christmas and shut down so we get a proper rest
3 volunteering days a year to give back to your local community.
Flexible hours & work: we have flexi-time and you can work from home 2 days per week.
Four weeks where you can work anywhere in the world (Mauritius anyone?)
A decent pension contribution (with an option to invest in sustainable funds).
£500 per year to spend on learning something new.
Private health care (Vitality), dental insurance, critical illness & life insurance to keep you ticking over from DAY 1!
Free breakfast in the Nest, a no desk-lunch policy and the bit you’ve been looking for, more nut butter than you can shake your tail at. Hooray.
36 hours working per week: 9am – 5.30pm (Mon-Thu) & an early finish on Fridays at 4pm (yippee!)
A great office, in a great part of town, with an even greater team (that’s a fact).

Oh nuts! It might seem obvious but there are a lot of nuts at The Nest. We're often testing, trialing or generally nibbling so if you have a severe nut allergy, please have a think about whether The Nest is the best place for you to be. Drop us a message if you need some more info.

Chat GPT? We get it. Job applications are tricky. AI platforms, like Chat GPT can be helpful, but pretty please with peanuts on top don't copy & paste an answer for your application. We have beady-eyes & will not accept anything that's obviously AI generated. We want to know the real you, not a robot. You've got this!

Now…what are you waiting for?
