ACT is hiring an architectural intern to join its team in County Mayo, Ireland.
ACT is a mission driven, research led design practice of architects, designers and policy specialists, set up to accelerate the green transition in the built and natural environment. We do this by embedding regenerative design principles across our four pillars of impact architecture, resilient urbanism, visions and strategies and impact at scale. Our projects aim to inspire others and demonstrate that change and a better future is possible.
We are looking for motivated architectural interns to join our dynamic team in Ballina and work on our innovative projects which range from co-designing a new city neighbourhood to designing a framework for the circular reuse of building material. Could this be you?
The opportunity
We are offering a nine-month paid internship at our Ballina studio. This is an opportunity to put university theory into practice within a small, supportive team. You will be fully involved in the design process, from co-design workshops with local residents to developing 3D models for regenerative urban strategies.

Essential requirements:
- right to work: you must have the legal right to work in Ireland
- academic background: completion of at least three years of study (Part 1 – BArch / BSc equivalent) within an architecture institution
- life experience: we value a well-rounded perspective; please demonstrate work experience in other sectors, such as summer jobs or previous roles outside of architecture
- location: a willingness to relocate to Ballina, Co. Mayo, to work from our studio in the Ballina Innovation Quarter
- portfolio: a strong portfolio showcasing your graphic and design talent
- tools: we primarily use Revit, Rhino 3D, and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). If you have experience with Grasshopper, that is a plus
