The Virginia Commonwealth University, School of the Arts (VCUarts) seeks teaching assistants to teach in the Summer Pre-College Program for High School Students: July 12 - 31, 2026. The Summer Pre-College Program at VCUarts is a three-week program that offers rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors the opportunity to take one non-credit course at VCUarts. Training and orientation equivalent to four hours will be required of the candidate prior to the start of the program. Classes will run for 3 weeks, Monday through Friday, six hours a day.

Responsibilities Include:
- Complete required youth training
- Assist the Instructor by setting-up classroom space and project materials
- Provide students with technical and conceptual development on projects
- Participate in the critique process
- Chaperone students while in buildings and escort students to facilities when needed
- Ensure quality and effectiveness of the Summer Pre-College Program
- Enforce Program policies and procedures at all times
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or course Instructor
Preferred Qualification:
- Knowledge of VCUarts campus, equipment, and resources
- Prior TA experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- BFA degree, or current BFA/MFA student
- Experience in the arts
- High energy, enthusiastic
- Enjoy working with creative and passionate students
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills
- Positive, flexible, hard-working and engaging
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
