Feels Like Home is hiring a senior interior designer to join its office in Dallas, Texas.
About us
Feels Like Home is a Dallas-based hospitality group that brings people together through thoughtfully curated experiences shaped by a passionate team of hospitality visionaries. We believe that timeless restaurants are built through meaningful relationships with our team, our city, the ingredients we source, the spaces we create and the guests we welcome. Everything is made better in good company.
The role
This is a founding design leadership position. As senior interior designer at Feels Like Home, you will own the creative vision and design development of our hospitality projects from concept through construction – shaping the physical identity of every space we build.
You will work directly with the founders and alongside our culinary, operations and project management teams. We are looking for someone who brings a strong design point of view, who can lead a project from a blank page and who understands that the greatest hospitality environments feel inevitable – as though they could not have been any other way.
Responsibilities:
- lead the full design process – concept, schematic design, design development, FF&E specification and construction documents – across all FLHO projects simultaneously
- develop and present cohesive design narratives, mood boards, material palettes and spatial concepts to founders and key stakeholders
- produce and oversee all design drawings, including space plans, reflected ceiling plans, bespoke furniture and millwork drawings and finish schedules
- source, specify, and procure FF&E; build and manage relationships with vendors, artisans, fabricators and showroom
- manage project budgets and timelines for all design phases, coordinating closely with general contractors and project managers
- conduct regular site visits throughout construction to ensure design integrity and resolve field conditions
- commission and direct original artwork, custom lighting, bespoke furniture and specialty finishes where appropriate
- collaborate with the culinary and operations teams to ensure that design supports and elevates the guest experience
- build and mentor a junior design team as the studio scales
- represent FLHO design standards across all touchpoints: physical environments, brand extensions, retail and future concepts
Experience and qualifications:
- over seven years’ experience in interior design with significant hospitality focus – restaurants, hotels, members clubs or high-end food and beverage
- experience at a design studio of recognized creative standing (agency, in-house or both)
- demonstrated ability to lead projects independently from concept through handover
- development of compelling client presentations, including visual research and design
- proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp or Rhino; rendering experience a plus
- strong command of construction documentation and FF&E specification
- experience in custom FF&E design and development is a plus
- proven vendor relationships and a well-developed material library
- experience managing project budgets, timelines and contractor relationships
- a portfolio that reflects a genuine point of view, not just technical skill
Who you are:
- obsessive about craft, material and detail – you know the difference between something that looks good in a render and something that will age beautifully
- deeply knowledgeable about design history; your references are broad and your influences are not obvious
- comfortable operating with autonomy and moving fast – you make strong decisions and stand behind them
- collaborative by nature; you work well with chefs, operators, and founders, not just other designers
- a natural editor – you know what to take out as much as what to add
- passionate about food, hospitality and the way spaces make people feel
- based in, or willing to relocate to, Dallas, Texas
Compensation and benefits:
- competitive salary commensurate with experience
- health, dental and vision coverage
- dining privileges and discounts across all FLHO properties
- access to a growing design budget and the latitude to build a studio the right way
- a seat at the table in a company that is early enough to be shaped by the people who join it
- potential partnership in the studio
- annual salary range: $95k-130k
