Assistant Professor of Studio Art with a focus in Painting, Middlebury College, MIDDLEBURY VT-- The Department of Studio Art invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track position in Painting beginning fall 2027. Applicants must be able to teach traditional painting processes across a variety of media have a notable exhibition record and an active studio practice amenable to student participation, and engage with contemporary dialogue within the field. The candidate must participate in a vigorous, cross-disciplinary studio program within a liberal arts environment and demonstrate the ability to engage students across the College's curriculum broadening the student's and institution's dialogue with contemporary art and culture. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two courses in painting and/or drawing in the fall, spring, and every other winter, as well as guide senior thesis work in painting. In addition to teaching, the candidate will also collaborate with fellow Studio Art faculty to develop visiting lecture and workshop programming.
As part of a full teaching load, the candidate will also regularly contribute to Middlebury's First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings. All faculty at Middlebury are also expected to contribute to service to the College, including, but not limited to, committee membership and serving as Director or Chair of a Program or Department when asked.
