The Department of Latin American and Iberian Cultures at Columbia University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Luso-Braziliancultural studies since 1800, to begin July 1, 2027.
We are especially interested in scholars working in a broader Latin American and/or transoceanic perspective on: literature, visual arts, film, or music. Scholars working in Afro-Brazilian studies and/or on indigeneity and gender are particularly encouraged to apply. Ph.D. must be in hand by the appointment start date. The selectee will be expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to contribute to Columbia College’s Core Curriculum. Candidates must have an outstanding research agenda and a teaching record that reflects eagerness to work closely with graduate and undergraduate students. Fluency in Portuguese is required.
