Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Department of Environmental Studies at MCLA invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). We are seeking an instructor with experience teaching GIS using Esri ArcGIS Pro at the undergraduate level. The course includes lecture and lab components, which may be offered in person or in a hybrid format based on the instructor's expertise. Candidates with a strong commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting a diverse student population are particularly encouraged to apply.
DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach "Environmental Studies 325: Geographic Information Systems" which introduces students to the theory and practice of GIS in the modern Environmental Science field.
- Maintain course materials and records in Canvas, MCLA's Learning Management System
- Hold online and in-person office hours each week
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that upholds the values of the liberal arts
- Implement curriculum which fulfills course and departmental learning outcomes
Requirements:
- MA or PhD in a related field (ABD acceptable)
- Previous experience teaching at the undergraduate level
- Record of professional involvement in GIS (preferred)
Additional Information:
This is a part-time, temporary position with the MSCA union. This position is temporary for 2026-2027 academic year. Position starts on 1/19/2027.
Salary for this position is $1,166-$2,549 per credit. Pay is based on number of semesters previously taught at MCLA.
