Hatch + Mason is seeking a project architect to join its growing team in London.
The role
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and talented architect with a passion for great design and a deep commitment to the craft of construction and delivery.
The ideal candidate will share our belief that architecture should be both purposeful and responsible, someone who values the long-term impact of every design decision and brings clarity and care to every stage of a project’s life.
You will have demonstrable experience delivering bespoke, design-led projects from initial concept through to completion, ideally within the residential sector. You will be confident working across all RIBA stages, from briefing and design development through planning, tender and delivery, including hands-on contract administration and site coordination.
This role will see you working within a small, collaborative studio environment, leading projects, liaising directly with clients and consultants, navigating site complexities, and translating thoughtful ideas into built realities. It offers genuine responsibility and ownership, supported by the directors, with the opportunity to play a meaningful role in the continued growth of the practice.
We are looking for someone highly organised and detail-focused, able to balance creativity with pragmatism, and who shares our ethos: to work with what exists, tread lightly, and create lasting value through intelligent, contextual and sustainable design.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:
- minimum five years’ experience in practice, with demonstrable experience leading projects through construction
- excellent verbal, written and sketch communication skills
- proven experience leading construction projects with build values typically between £300k and £2m
- experience delivering projects across the full range of RIBA work stages
- demonstrable experience in contract administration and on-site delivery
- confidence presenting to clients, planning officers and consultants, as well as internally within the studio
- ability to manage, motivate and mentor other members of the team
- experience developing project programmes and coordinating design deliverables, with a clear understanding of resource and fee management
- excellent knowledge of UK Building Regulations, construction materials and detailing
- experience reviewing and coordinating detailed specifications
- proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
