This position supports marketing, communications, and enrollment initiatives by designing and producing high-quality digital and print materials that promote off-campus, online, and special session programs. The incumbent applies strong graphic design principles—including typography, layout, color, visual storytelling, and accessibility—to create brand-aligned communications across print, web, and social media platforms; evaluates and enhances existing materials to improve clarity, consistency, and visual impact; manages promotional item design and vendor coordination; and collaborates with marketing, web, and program teams to support integrated campaigns.
Examples of Duties
1. Design and produce high-quality digital and print marketing materials for off-campus, online, and special session courses, applying strong graphic design principles such as typography, layout hierarchy, color theory, visual storytelling, and accessibility compliance while ensuring alignment with university branding standards.
2. Evaluate, update, and enhance existing marketing assets by applying advanced design judgment to improve composition, readability, consistency, and visual impact; recommend refinements to templates, imagery, and messaging to strengthen brand identity across materials.
3. Manage promotional item design and production by developing branded artwork, preparing print-ready files, selecting appropriate formats and materials, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring visual quality control from concept through final delivery and distribution.
4. Support social media content creation by designing visually compelling graphics optimized for platform requirements, creating cohesive visual campaigns, and applying best practices in digital layout, motion graphics (when applicable), and audience-focused visual communication to strengthen the department’s professional presence.
5. Assist with web content updates by applying user-centered design principles, optimizing graphics for web performance, maintaining visual consistency across pages, and ensuring accessibility, responsive formatting, and brand compliance in collaboration with web and marketing teams.
6. Contribute to integrated marketing initiatives by applying design thinking to campaign execution, developing cohesive visual themes across channels, and supporting recruitment and outreach events through branded displays, signage, and presentation materials.
7. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, graphic/media design or a closely related field.*
- One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in graphic design, marketing, and/or student recruitment and retention.*
- Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.

About Civil Service Examination/Testing: The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination/testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
