Associate Professor of Music with Andrews University (Berrien Springs, MI)
Teach a full load of graduate and undergraduate classes in the areas of conducting, score study, orchestration, music theory, and individual applied classes. Prepare and conduct concerts of the Andrews University Symphony Orchestra (“AUSO”). This includes running rehearsals; coordinate all activities concerning promotion of concerts, programs, and pre-concert talks; and monitor and direct all activities concerning music material for rehearsals and concerts, such as music rental, hiring extra personnel, and stage set-up. Collaborate with singers, voice studios, and vocal ensembles. Engage in community outreach as relevant to the AUSO. Plan and coordinate AUSO touring activities. Audition and award scholarships to students seeking to be in the AUSO. Oversee the procurement and maintenance of all string instruments.
Requires a Ph.D. of Musical Arts in Conducting or related field. Must have some academic knowledge OR experience in each of the following skills: Ability to teach conducting, composition, score study, orchestration, music theory, and individual instrumental classes; Orchestral conducting and college appropriate repertoire selection; Chamber music directing and coaching; Staged productions with vocalists and/or dancers; Rehearsal technique and concert promotion; and Tour and financial planning.
