Position
The College of Fine Arts and Communication invites applications for a tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor of Printmaking position in the Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education. Preferred start date: August 2027.
The department seeks an artist-educator with strong creative practice, a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching, and the ability to lead and support a dynamic printmaking area. The successful candidate will teach printmaking courses at multiple levels, oversee the printmaking facility, contribute to the development of the printmaking curriculum, maintain an active creative/research agenda, and participate in departmental, college, university, and professional service.
We welcome applicants whose work demonstrates strong technical, conceptual, and historical engagement with printmaking, including traditional, contemporary, expanded, and/or interdisciplinary approaches.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- MFA or terminal degree in Printmaking, Studio Art, or a closely related field by the start date.
- Evidence of an active creative/research practice in printmaking
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate printmaking courses.
- Strong knowledge of printmaking techniques, histories, theories, and contemporary practices.
- Commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching and mentorship.
- Evidence of professional engagement through exhibitions, publications, residencies, grants, commissions, collaborations, curatorial projects, community-based projects
- Ability to support safe, responsible, and effective use of printmaking facilities, equipment, tools, and materials. Including but not limited to knowledge of safe shop practices, equipment maintenance, chemical safety, ventilation needs, and sustainable/non-toxic printmaking processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- College-level teaching experience beyond graduate assistantships.
- Experience teaching printmaking at multiple levels, including introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses.
- Experience managing or helping maintain a printmaking studio, shop, lab, or shared studio environment.
- Ability to teach across a range of printmaking processes, including both traditional and contemporary/digital approaches.
- Ability to contribute to curriculum development and help build a forward-looking printmaking area within a broad art and design department.
Salary and Benefits
Targeted salary range: $70,000
