Aidlin Darling Design is looking for a communications manager to join its team in San Francisco, California.
Position description
Award winning San Francisco architecture and design firm has an opening available for a Communications Manager to act as a narrative and visual storyteller on behalf of our studio. This position will be responsible for managing and producing all day-to-day press and business development operations. The ideal candidate is experienced in written communication, editing, graphic layout, knowledgeable in the field of architecture/design, and eager to leverage our strong portfolio and existing relationships to bring our work to the world. This is a diverse, hands-on, deadline-driven position that requires initiative, leadership and collaboration. The position requires four day a week minimum attendance in our San Francisco studio.
Duties and responsibilities:
- work with Principals to field, research and track project leads
- manage, design, and execute award submissions
- coordinate with public relations agency to help pitch news items and projects for publication, field press and interview requests, and track press coverage
- work with Principals on incoming RFQs/RFPs. Provide design production, coordinate with partnering teams, and write text as needed
- produce marketing materials including but not limited to: digital presentations, boards, leave-behinds, website content, press kits, social media posts, and proposals
- manage website maintenance and regular updates
- design, write and implement email marketing campaigns
- maintain and update all marketing collateral and photography portfolio, digital and print
- act as liaison between photographers and publications to ensure proper usage rights and fees
- this is a department of one with the support and collaboration of the studio leadership.
Skills and expertise:
- advanced knowledge of Adobe InDesign and MS Office Suite. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop experience is a plus.
- experience with WordPress (Website), Mailchimp (Eblasts), and Hubspot (Eblasts)
- be a highly motivated and initiative driven individual. We see this position as the equivalent of a project manager where all communication efforts are broken down and led by this person.
- excellent written communication skills. This position requires understanding the studio’s approach and goals and synthesizing it for different outreach efforts.
- excellent graphic layout skills and sensibility
- a strong attention to detail and accuracy
- strong organizational and management skills with the ability to independently manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
Minimum requirements:
- minimum seven years of experience in a similar position. Experience in the architecture/design industry and/or a demonstrated interest of architecture is preferred
- candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
