The Department of Art & Design at East Tennessee State University is seeking to hire a dynamic, enthusiastic, and innovative 9-month tenure track Assistant Professor of Art to serve as Foundations Coordinator.
Our department inclusively prepares individuals to become creative and critically engaged professionals who successfully contribute to the visual and social culture of the Appalachian region and beyond. The Foundations program is a vital component of our success, functioning as an energetic, immersive, multi-disciplinary artistic educational experience that prepares our students for upper-level course work through the development of technical skills involving traditional and non-traditional approaches to studio art, conceptualization that develops and involves problem-solving strategies, and the growth of personal creativity coupled with a globally engaged perspective.
The successful candidate will have a coherent vision of the purpose and practice of foundations education as a component of the development of artists and designers, will possess a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service, and have the ability to contribute to our thriving academic community which values and celebrates the arts.
