We're looking for a creative and versatile Digital Designer to become a key part of The Barn team. You'll spend the majority of your time designing beautiful, conversion-focused experiences for Shopify, from full ecommerce builds to smaller project work, while occasionally turning your hand to internal Barn creative and broader digital design. You'll be comfortable working across a range of brand styles, collaborating closely with developers and account teams, and bringing a sharp eye for detail to everything from a homepage hero to a product page layout. Key Responsibilities

Design custom Shopify themes, landing pages, and UI components for client ecommerce sites
Translate client briefs and brand guidelines into engaging, conversion-focused web designs
Present and articulate design decisions to clients and internal stakeholders
Work on roadmap Shopify projects from concept through to handoff, including responsive designs for desktop and mobile
Collaborate closely with developers to ensure designs are feasible and pixel-perfect in implementation
Support internal Barn marketing and brand work (social content, website updates, pitch decks, case studies)
Occasionally lead non-ecommerce digital design projects (websites, branding, digital campaigns)
Stay current with ecommerce design trends, Shopify platform updates, and UX best practices
Leverage AI design tools (e.g. Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT) to enhance and accelerate creative workflows where appropriate

Requirements

Proven experience designing for ecommerce, ideally Shopify
Strong portfolio demonstrating UI/UX skills for web (desktop and mobile)
Proficiency in Figma (or similar design tools)
Understanding of responsive design principles and basic awareness of how designs translate to development
Strong typography, layout, and visual branding skills
Excellent communication and time-management skills, able to juggle multiple projects
A collaborative, can-do attitude and willingness to support varied tasks across the agency
Familiarity with AI-powered design tools and a curiosity for how AI can improve design processes and output quality

Nice to Have

Experience with Shopify Liquid or theme structure basics
Motion design or basic video editing skills
Experience working in an agency environment
