Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities
The History Program and Museum Studies minor at Fairmont State University are currently recruiting candidates for a tenure-track assistant professor for a Fall 2025 appointment. The successful candidate for this position can expect to teach undergraduate courses such as Intro to Public History, Intro to Museum Studies, and Historian’s Craft. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the both programs through curriculum development, promotion, recruitment, and growing partnerships with local, regional, and national museums and historic sites.
The ideal candidate would have teaching experience in public history and demonstrated experience in public or digital history/humanities in one or more of the following settings: museums, historical societies, archives, libraries, or historical/cultural agencies. Experience in folklore, material culture, historic preservation, or heritage tourism encouraged.
The required teaching load is four classes per semester. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent, enthusiastic teaching and student advocacy; ability to work cooperatively and productively with faculty, staff and students; commitment to productivity and professional development; ability to use technology effectively in teaching, learning and assessment and active participation in department, college and community service.

Minimum Required Education
Terminal degree in history or related field. ABD will be considered.
