JAM is hiring an architectural assistant to join its team in London.
JAM is seeking a thoughtful and motivated architectural assistant to join its studio in Whitechapel. We are open to applications from Part 2 and Part 1 candidates who are keen to work across design, making and construction.
The role will involve contributing to projects from design development through to construction. You will work closely with project architects and directors on drawing production, models, research, visualisations, material testing and site information. The studio environment is hands-on and workshop-oriented, and we are particularly interested in candidates who enjoy making, prototyping and working at 1:1.
The ideal candidate will have:
- strong design and drawing skills
- strong image-making and visualisation skills
- excellent model-making ability
- experience assisting on projects through Stages 3 to 5
- an interest in working with existing buildings, interiors and bespoke elements
- enthusiasm for working within a workshop environment, producing samples, mock-ups and prototypes
- curiosity about materials, fabrication and the cultural and environmental context of construction
- proficiency in Vectorworks, Rhino and Adobe InDesign/Photoshop (Revit or other BIM experience a plus)
- speak fluent English; additional languages (French, Dutch or Japanese) a plus
