Job Summary
The Program Specialist I, under general supervision, performs entry-level specialist duties for a department, college, or division.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring programs and services.
- Plans and develops specialized programs such as conferences, seminars, lectures, meetings, and workshops to facilitate program goals.
- Coordinates specialized program communications and marketing materials.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures.
- Assists in the preparation and maintenance of budgets, special reports, and other documents.
- Attends meetings and conferences to discuss the progress of assigned programs.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates departmental events and activities, including concerts, recitals, auditions, exhibitions, lectures, and special programs.
- Assists with scheduling facilities and managing ongoing schedule changes related to departmental programming.
- Coordinates guest artist logistics and prepares related contracts and documentation.
- Supports departmental communications and promotional efforts in collaboration with University Public Relations, including event announcements, programs, posters, and social media content.
- Serves as a point of contact for faculty, students, staff, and external partners regarding departmental events and activities.
Minimum Requirements
- Education - Bachelor's degree in related field such as Arts Administration, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience - No prior experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience - Supporting academic programs, events, or arts-related operations in a higher education or arts organization setting.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Experience - No prior experience required.
Ability to:
- Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
Preferred Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of event coordination, scheduling processes, and basic marketing and promotional workflows.
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities and deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with faculty, students, staff, and external partners.
- Adapt to frequent schedule changes while maintaining attention to detail.

Salary: $17.54/hourly
