Job Description
Montgomery College has an immediate need for a full-time Community Arts Program Manager located on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. The work schedule is typically Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm with occasional weekend and evening hours. This is a non-bargaining, exempt, grade 27 position. One (1) day of telework may be granted based on the needs of the unit.
The Community Arts Program manager will under supervision and/or direction, provide feedback on program implementation, input on strategic plan design and rollout, and smooth delivery of day-to-day tasks designed to ensure successful student outcomes (professional and personal) in the Arts program as well as the development, coordination, marketing, and evaluation of open enrollment, contract, and grant funded courses.
Interactions vary and may involve multiple constituencies including direct interaction with the business community, outside agencies, faculty, colleagues, managers, directors, students, vendors, contractors and consultants.

Duties include but are not limited to
- Identify community needs and develop/maintain partnerships for selected service and resources.
- Schedule, assign, inspect and review work of assigned faculty to ensure work is performed according to established standards.
- Conduct instructor recruitment/interviewing and make recommendations to hire; generate contract letters.
- Monitor and evaluate teacher effectiveness and student success.
- Evaluate courses, curriculum and programs.
- Develop and manage the annual WD&CE budget, price programs and negotiate contracts; submit program projections for annual budget.
- Analyze program data to establish enrollment and budget projections.
- Develop quality assurance methodology to evaluate/measure quality and financial viability of programs.
- Respond to problems and inquiries on technical/educational issues.
- Perform initial problem determination/identification and resolve and/or develop alternative resolutions.
- Analyze and report on progress toward financial/enrollment targets.
- Meet with representatives of County businesses and organizations to assess needs, plan training, negotiate contracts, and develop/maintain
- association and/or relationship.
- Solicit and evaluate course proposals, reviews syllabi/materials, schedule and prices courses.
- Oversee logistics for effective course delivery, including management of visual and performing arts lab spaces, supplies and equipment.
- Evaluate teacher effectiveness and student success and satisfaction, review evaluations and student feedback and retention.
- Advise students on appropriate course selection.
- Initiate new programs and respond to RFPs.
- Submit program progress reports to appropriate individuals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, educational technology, arts, or discipline related to the respective program.
- Three years of related experience including two years of program leadership/management experience.
- Training in communications, marketing, program supervision, leadership, writing, public speaking,
- project management, and instructional design and/or teaching strategies.
- The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
- Demonstrated knowledge of workforce development and/or continuing education programs, management, best practices, and emerging trends.
- Demonstrated knowledge of performing arts disciplines and best practices in those disciplines
- Demonstrated customer service experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in the arts, and a minimum of two years’ experience working as a working artist or arts professional.
- Prior work experience in arts education
- Prior experience working in or managing a visual and performing arts faculty.
Hiring Range: $65,910-$85,671 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $105,432.
