As part of our continued growth, we are strengthening our London studio team with a hands-on, detail-driven studio assistant. This is a junior position suited to someone highly organised, technically minded, and interested in both the physical assembly of products and the resolution of design and production challenges.
This is a hybrid role combining practical workshop-based work with technical support to the design and production teams.
Key responsibilities:
- assist in the assembly, finishing, and preparation of lighting fixtures for dispatch and installation
- inspect components and assembled fixtures to ensure they meet Gabriel Scott’s quality standards
- identify and troubleshoot assembly or component issues, escalating where necessary
- support the resolution of design and production challenges, working closely with the design and operations teams
- carry out minor adjustments or refinements to components where required
- organise and maintain a clean, efficient, and well-structured studio workspace
- assist with packing, labelling, and logistics coordination for outgoing shipments
- support the documentation of assembly processes and technical solutions
- assist with prototyping and sample preparation for new product development
- provide general support across the studio as needed
Requirements:
- highly detail-oriented with a methodical and careful approach to work
- practical, hands-on mindset with an interest in making, assembly, or fabrication
- strong problem-solving ability and willingness to learn
- organised and reliable, with the ability to follow processes precisely
- good communication skills and ability to work within a team
- comfortable working in a fast-paced studio environment
- basic understanding of tools, materials, or workshop processes is advantageous
Desirable experience:
- background or education in product design, furniture, lighting, or a related field
- familiarity with basic technical drawings or assembly drawings
- experience working with materials such as metal, glass, or stone
- exposure to workshop tools or light fabrication processes
