KHD Architecture is seeking a technical designer to join its team in London.
KHD is a growing, design-led practice seeking a talented individual with strong technical design capability to join our team. We are open to considering applicants with a background as either an Architectural technologist/ technician or Architectural designer/ assistant.
Ideally, the applicant will be able to demonstrate good experience of UK-based small and medium scale residential project work at RIBA Stage 4-5.
We offer the opportunity to be part of a collaborative practice delivering high-quality residential projects across London and the South East. This is a key role within the practice, working alongside the practice directors and suited to someone confident with developing projects from initial briefing through to delivery. You will be working closely with clients, consultants and local authorities, while being supported by a close-knit and collaborative team.
Depending on experience, responsibilities would include:
- supporting technical and construction stages of projects, concept/planning stages subject to experience and capability
- preparation of high-quality detailed scale drawings, schedules and specifications for tender, construction and regulatory approvals
- assisting with coordination, technical detailing and responding to technical input
- managing projects against agreed programmes and budget
We are looking for an individual who is:
- strong in design thinking with good technical awareness
- comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively
- has experience working on UK-based residential projects and familiarity with current Building Regulations and construction methods
- confident working across technical and construction stages, experience of concept and planning stages would be advantageous
- clear and professional communicator in English, both written and verbal
- organised, proactive, able to meet deadlines, and comfortable taking responsibility
- proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience would be advantageous)
- experience liaising directly with clients, consultants and local authorities
