Essential functions (job duties):
Position Purpose:
The Program Graphic Designer creates visual communications and media-related programs for the C.S. Mott Center for Human Growth and Development; designs, develop, and oversea production of print and digital materials that support the Center’s research and programmatic initiatives, including Discovery to Cure and related educational and outreach programs; collaborates with faculty and leadership to translate complex scientific and programmatic content into clear, visually engaging formats across multiple platforms; and support communications and outreach coordination to ensure consistent branding and effective dissemination of information. This position reports to the Associate Director, Administration.
Essential Functions:
Design and produce visual communications materials for the Center, including digital and print publications such as newsletters, brochures, annual reports, presentations, and donor communications.
Develop and maintain visual branding standards and graphic identity for the Center, including creation of logos, templates, style guidelines, and new collateral to modernize and strengthen the Center’s visual presence.

Create and manage visual content for social media platforms, including design of posts, campaigns, and graphics aligned with institutional messaging and audience engagement goals.
Design, update, and maintain website content and visual layout for the Center and affiliated labs, ensuring accuracy, usability, and visual consistency across web platforms.
Design and produce event-related materials, including signage, invitations, promotional graphics, and program collateral for seminars, symposia, and outreach initiatives.
Collaborate with faculty and leadership to translate scientific research and programmatic content into visually engaging formats, including data visualization, impact reports, and presentations.
Coordinate production and implementation of visual communications and media projects, working with internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and alignment with Center priorities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Unique duties:
Qualifications:
Education: High school completion (or GED)
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, or related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, advanced training, and extensive professional experience in graphic design and visual communications.
Experience: Expert (established subject matter expert, 7+ years experience)
Experience: developing and maintaining visual branding standards, including creation of logos, templates, and cohesive visual identities across print and digital media.
Advanced proficiency in industry-standard design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), as well as digital layout and web-based design platforms
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong ability to design and produce a wide range of communications materials, including publications, marketing collateral, social media content, website graphics, and event materials.
Demonstrated knowledge of professional graphic design principles, including typography, layout, color theory, and visual composition, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and engaging visual formats.
Knowledge of digital media platforms, including website content management and social media channels, with the ability to create visually effective content tailored to different audiences.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, leadership, and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize competing deadlines, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and project coordination skills, including the ability to manage production timelines, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
