Job Description:
The WKU Department of Art & Design seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-eligible appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Art & Design Foundations, beginning August 2025.
WKU Art & Design is an innovative unit spanning studio art, graphic design, animation, user experience design, art education, art history, and game design. We seek a student-focused colleague, skilled in materials-based design, composition, and drawing, interested in becoming part of our team to build a program providing foundational knowledge for our expansive and expanding curriculum.
The candidate selected for this position will join a department of highly committed, active artists, designers, and scholars who enjoy working together to serve a community of motivated students.
Teaching duties include an emphasis on 2D Design Foundations and Beginning Drawing, with a potential for other courses including those for non-majors. Additional responsibilities include assisting with maintaining studios, student advising, curriculum development, research or creative activity appropriate for tenure and promotion, and service commitments to department, college, university, and community.
Requirements:
- An MFA or other terminal degree in a related discipline
- Teaching experience at the college level
- Ability to take initiative and work well with others as a member of a team
