Architecture for London is seeking an architect/architectural designer to join its team in London.
The successful candidate will have a passion for good design that touches lightly on the earth.
We are a studio dedicated to the creation of sustainable buildings and places and environmental impact is a key consideration in our work. We take a research-based, fabric-first approach to sustainability that carefully considers the embodied energy of materials and the energy performance of our buildings in use. We work toward Passivhaus and EnerPHit standards of comfort and low energy, creating sustainable homes.
We work on a range of private residential and commercial projects across London, across all RIBA stages. Team members take ownership of projects and work directly with clients, with significant design autonomy.
We are looking for candidates with a portfolio demonstrating UK private residential experience.
Key skills and experience
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- strong conceptual, design and communication skills
- excellent technical knowledge
- site experience and job running skills
- excellent digital and physical model-making, sketching and Photoshop skills
- knowledge of statutory regulations, contracts, procurement and delivery requirements
- a keen interest in sustainable design
- AutoCAD proficiency (preferred)
- Passivhaus qualification or relevant experience (beneficial)

Terms and conditions
The salary for this role will be commensurate with experience and ability. The position is full-time and based on-site at our Farringdon studio. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. We are an accredited Living Wage employer.
