Holt Architecture is hiring a senior project architect to join its team in London.
Holt Architecture is a RIBA Chartered practice working at the intersection of heritage, sustainability, and contemporary design. Our projects range from inventive office retrofits to careful interventions in listed buildings, often combining advanced digital processes with an intuitive feel for context and materiality.
We are seeking a senior project architect who understands that design doesn’t stop at planning.
This is a role for an “architect’s architect” – someone who combines a sophisticated design eye with the technical grit to get things built. You will not just be “running” projects; you will be the guardian of the design quality, using your technical knowledge to ensure our vision isn’t lost during construction.
Why this role?
- design ownership: we don’t separate “designers” from “deliverers.” You will lead projects from Stage 4 onwards, ensuring that the detailing enhances the concept rather than diluting it
- impact: your knowledge of construction will actively shape the studio’s output. We want your input on how we build, not just what we build
- culture: we are a flat structure that values critical thinking. We are looking for a collaborator who can mentor the team on how to turn beautiful ideas into buildable reality
The “must-haves”:
- design sensibility: you have a portfolio of high-quality built work. You understand proportion, materiality, and how to detail contemporary interfaces with heritage buildings.
- deep construction knowledge: you must have a proven track record of taking projects from Stage 4 through to Completion. You are comfortable challenging contractors and resolving site clashes independently.
- advanced Revit proficiency: we need more than just 3D modeling; you must be able to use Revit for detailing (1:5/1:10) and understand the efficiency of genuine BIM
- regulatory expertise: a strong working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and NBS specifications is essential
Your background:
- ARB Registered Architect with significant post-Part 3 experience (typically five plus years)
- experience in heritage or retrofit sectors is highly desirable
- you are a problem solver who anticipates construction issues before they reach site
