Goalhanger is one of the UK’s most exciting independent media companies, the team behind some of the world’s most successful shows including The Rest Is Politics, The Rest Is History, The Rest Is Football, The Rest Is Entertainment, and a fast-growing slate beyond that.
We’re a culture-first, talent-powered media business shaping how millions of people consume stories, ideas, and entertainment across podcasts, video, social, live events, and membership.
As we enter our next phase of growth, we’re looking for a Midweight Designer to help define how Goalhanger shows up visually across platforms, formats, and moments that matter.
This role sits at the intersection of brand, content, and performance. You’ll help translate Goalhanger’s intelligent, editorial identity into design that travels from podcast artwork and YouTube thumbnails to social assets and motion.
What you’ll do
Design artwork and visual assets for new and existing podcasts, from hero covers to limited-series campaigns
Create standout YouTube thumbnails that drive engagement without compromising editorial integrity
Develop on-brand social assets and templates across video, carousels, and stories
Collaborate closely with producers, marketing, and motion teams to evolve Goalhanger’s digital-first visual language
Support light motion design- including animated title cards, social motion, end frames, and stings
Help maintain and evolve the Goalhanger design system, ensuring cohesion across shows, campaigns, and platforms
Contribute creatively to launch moments, brand campaigns, and experimental formats as the business grows
What you’ll bring
3–5 years’ experience in a design role (agency, studio, or media brand)
Strong understanding of composition, typography, and hierarchy — ideally with editorial or cultural brand experience
Confidence working across static and motion design using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects)
A portfolio that shows taste, curiosity, and the ability to balance brand thinking with performance needs
Cultural fluency — an instinct for how stories, formats, and visuals move across platforms
Comfort working at pace, managing multiple projects without losing craft or clarity
A quietly confident point of view: thoughtful, decisive, and open to collaboration
