Benedetti Architects is seeking a practice manager to play a key role in the day to day running and ongoing development of the practice, based in Clerkenwell, London.
This is a position for someone who enjoys bringing structure, clarity and momentum to a creative environment. You will work closely with the Director to keep the studio operating smoothly, while also helping shape how the practice presents itself across its work, brand and wider profile.
The role combines general practice management, marketing and PR, new business proposals, premises management, project and administrative support.
The role is varied and tasks include:
- practice/financial management: day to day overview of office systems/protocols, monthly liaison with bookkeeper and accountants, updating practice polices and records, and assisting the director
- marketing, new business and publicity: promoting the practice on social media, updating the website and promotional documents (such as project pages), liaising with the press/awards, researching new business via tendering portals and creating “expression of interest” submissions, award entries and helping with presentations
- premises management: ordering supplies, liaison with IT consultants, suppliers and our landlord
- administration support: general office organisation, dealing with enquiries/deliveries/post, database management, travel bookings, staff events, and archiving/filing
- HR: updating annual leave and staff records, recruitment and general knowledge of employment and data protection laws, familiarity with visa and immigration procedures and maintaining visa sponsorship license
- the job is interestingly varied, and these core activities ebb and flow in response to projects
Skills, qualifications and experience:
- at least four years’ experience in a similar role and industry
- organised and able to work to your own deadlines
- advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications and Adobe software, especially InDesign
- fluent English, written and verbal
- knowledge and experience using project management systems (Fresh Projects)
- knowledge of health and safety and employment laws
- be reliable and self-directed, able to follow through and independently complete tasks to a high standard
- friendly and approachable, whilst assertive as necessary, with ability/confidence to make timely decisions
- flexibility and a team player – within the context of project deadlines, a willingness to use your own initiative to help with a variety of tasks often in a fast-paced context
- confident in communicating at all levels and cultures
- familiarity with document control systems
- experience in understanding supplier and employment contracts
- experience and confidence with being the one administrative person in an office full of architects
- ability to represent the firm to visitors, clients and consultants on occasion
The job is intended to be full time (although less than 8-hour days may be considered). Salary will be dependent on experience and full-time / reduced-time status.
