East JR is hiring an interior architect to join its London studio.
The practice works across architecture, interiors and bespoke joinery, delivering design-led commercial and residential projects as a fully integrated studio.
About the role
This is a delivery-focused position for an Interior Architect who is as interested in how things are built as how they look.
You will work closely with our architect/project manager to develop projects from early-stage layouts through to fully resolved, technical design. The role requires a high level of coordination across disciplines, with a focus on producing clear, buildable information.
We are looking for someone who can bring rigour to design development – someone who is comfortable taking ownership of detail, resolving complexity, and ensuring that design intent translates cleanly into delivery.
You’ll sit at the intersection of interior design, joinery, and construction, working closely with our joinery designers, joinery workshop and project managers, you will guide projects from early concept design stages through to construction, ensuring the quality and integrity of the design is maintained throughout.
Key responsibilities:
- develop interior design drawing packages with floorplans, sections, elevations, FF&E schedules
- produce designs which can have buildability and budget in mind from the outset
- have a good knowledge of managing fitout budgets, thinking creatively with materials and fittings to achieve a clients vision while staying within budget
- produce coordinated drawings and detailed design information
- resolve layouts, junctions and interfaces across disciplines
- align design output with programme and project constraints
- identify and address design issues early in the process
- support the transition from design into production
Requirements:
- three to six plus years’ experience in architecture or interior architecture
- confident use of Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite (3D skills beneficial)
- joinery design experience beneficial
- strong technical ability and attention to detail
- experience working across multiple project stages
- ability to coordinate complex design information
- confident working within a structured, delivery-focused environment
- experience working within hospitality (F&B) and high-end retail is beneficial
