We're The Doers, a London marketing consultancy built on a collective of senior consultants and freelance specialists: strategy, SEO, paid social, content, design and project management. We predominantly work with brands within homes, interiors, property and architecture. After a year of substantial growth, we’re now on the hunt for our first in-house social hire. Someone who makes the content, not just schedules it. You'll shoot it, edit it, post it, and help us build the content engine for clients that lets us take on more of the work we love. This isn't a seat at an existing desk. There isn't a desk yet. You'll help design the role, the workflow and the team around it. If that sounds exciting rather than terrifying, read on…
THE DEAL
We'll be straight with you: the permanent role depends on us continuing to win more work at the pace we have been. The good news is that's exactly what this role exists to make happen, and you'll see the numbers as we go.
Contract - 6-month fixed-term contract to start, with the aim of a permanent role beyond that as the client roster grows
Days - 4 or 5 days a week (you can decide)
Where? - Hybrid. One day a week together in person with Jess, at the office or out on location. Come in more if you like, or work from home the rest of the week
Salary - £35–42k (pro rata for 4 days), depending on experience
Start - January / February (flexible for the right candidate here)
WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY BE DOING
Making content is the job. Roughly 70% of your week will be creating it; the rest is planning, overseeing publishing and building the team around you.
- Shoot it - Showrooms, renovations, finished homes, product, founders, behind the scenes. Phone or camera, you know what each moment needs.
- Edit it - Short-form video first: Reels, TikToks, Stories, carousels. You'll share edits with other Doers when volume spikes, but you set the standard.
- Publish and manage it - You own client channels day to day: what goes out, when, and how the community is handled. You won't be buried in admin, though. Our admin support handles the scheduling and uploads with you, so your time goes on making great content.
- Bring the ideas - Trends, formats, sounds, angles. You'll pitch what we should be making before anyone asks.
- Read the numbers - Know which posts landed and why, and turn that into the next batch of content.
- Grow the content crew - When we need extra shooters or editors, you'll find them, brief them and keep them on-brand.
- Work alongside the strategists - You won't be setting client strategy on day one. You'll take a strategic brief and make it look and feel brilliant on screen.
WHO YOU ARE
You must have:
- 3+ years making social content for brands, agency or in-house
- Real experience in homes, interiors, property or architecture. You know the difference between a good room shot and a great one
- A genuine love of homes and interiors. You save kitchens on Instagram for fun
- Strong shooting and editing skills, especially short-form video (CapCut, Premiere, Lightroom or whatever gets it done fastest)
- Your finger on the pulse. You know what's trending this week, not last quarter
- A solid read on the digital landscape for interiors: the creators, the brands doing it well, the platforms that matter and why
- Comfort with autonomy. You'll be trusted to shape how this works, so you need to be happy making calls
Nice to have:
- Some strategy experience. Not expected, and we'll train you up
- Experience briefing or managing freelancers
- Paid social know-how
- A personal account or portfolio that shows your own eye
WHERE THIS ROLE GOES
There's a lot of scope here, and a lot of it is yours to shape.
- Months 1–2: Get to know our clients and the Doers. Start making and posting content fast.
- Months 3–4: Own a set of client channels end to end. Build the workflows and templates we'll scale with.
- Months 5–6: Start bringing in and managing other content creators. Begin learning strategy alongside our strategists.
- Beyond: A permanent role, a growing content team, and a path into social strategy if that's where you want to go.
You'll work directly with Jess, our founder, who has 17+ years in homes and interiors brand marketing. You'll learn a lot, fast.
THE PERKS
- Friday afternoons out (if 5 days a week) - Friday afternoons are set aside for culture and creativity: exhibitions, showrooms, galleries, design talks. Join Jess on work time and come back full of ideas.

- Holiday - 25 days plus bank holidays (pro rata if you work 4 days).

How to apply
Skip the cover letter. Show us your work instead. Send us three pieces of content you created that performed well. For each one, tell us:
1. The why. What was the brief, and why did this piece get made?
2. The what. What did you personally do: idea, shoot, edit, copy, all of it?
3. The result. How did it perform, and why do you think it worked? Numbers welcome. A few lines per piece is plenty.
If the work is confidential, tell us about it without naming the client.
Add a link to your CV or LinkedIn, your salary expectations, and when you could start.
If we like what we see, we’ll schedule a phone/video call with Jess. We’ll then do a second round in person before making a decision. In the event that we have multiple candidates we love, we’ll set a small (paid) task for you so we can see your skills in action.
