At Fluid Glass, we deliver bespoke architectural glazing packages for some of the UK’s most ambitious residential and commercial projects. From frameless structural glazing to highly detailed façade interfaces, our work demands precision, technical understanding and careful coordination at every stage.
We are looking for an assistant design manager to support the day-to-day operation of the design department, helping maintain the quality, consistency and technical accuracy of our drawing output.
This role would suit somebody with strong AutoCAD ability, a methodical approach to technical work and an interest in architecture, construction detailing and glazing systems. Graduates will be considered, as will applicants with practical construction or site experience.
The role
Working alongside the design manager and wider technical team, you will assist in coordinating drawing production, reviewing technical information, and supporting the delivery of live projects through all design stages.
You will play a key role in maintaining drawing standards, monitoring deadlines and ensuring issued information reflects the level of quality expected by the company.
Responsibilities:
- allocating drawing packages and project tasks across the design team
- reviewing and checking drawing packages prior to issue
- marking up amendments and coordinating revisions with designers
- assisting in maintaining drawing quality, consistency and technical accuracy
- monitoring design deadlines and helping ensure submissions are issued on programme
- managing and developing the company detail library
- carrying out preliminary checks on glass specifications prior to engineer review
- supporting the design manager with general departmental coordination
AutoCAD responsibilities:
- amending and updating technical details
- preparing construction issue drawing packages
- assisting with glazing drawings for manufacture
- managing drawing revisions and issue records
Requirements:
- strong AutoCAD proficiency
- excellent organisational and coordination skills
- high level of attention to detail
- confidence reviewing and interpreting technical drawings
- ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- clear and professional communication skills
- construction, façade or glazing experience would be advantageous, though not essential
- graduates with relevant architectural, engineering or construction-based qualifications are encouraged to apply
