Outline of the role
We’re looking for a junior craftsperson to join our workshop team at Based Upon as part of our growing craft function. This is a hands-on, developmental role, offering the opportunity to work across a range of materials, processes, and disciplines in a highly creative studio environment.
You’ll support the making of work to the highest standards, contributing throughout the process while developing your technical skills, material understanding, and confidence. This role suits someone early in their career who is curious, motivated, and keen to learn from experienced makers and artists.
Key responsibilities:
- support the making and finishing of work across a range of materials and processes
- assist with workshop tasks and hands on production activities
- contribute to projects at different stages, from preparation through to final finishing
- maintain high standards of craftsmanship, accuracy, and attention to detail
- support a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
- work collaboratively with senior makers and artists, learning new skills and techniques
Who this role is for
This role is ideal for an emerging craftsperson with a solid foundation in making and design, who is eager to develop their skills within a collaborative studio environment.
You’ll thrive if you’re curious, proactive, and open to learning, with a strong eye for detail and a positive attitude toward hands-on work. Being friendly, team-focused, and comfortable working closely with others is essential, as you’ll be learning directly from skilled artists and contributing to shared creative outcomes. If you’re motivated and take pride in developing your craft, this role offers an excellent starting point within a production-led studio.
