LC-AV is seeking a lighting designer/lighting design consultant to join its team in London.
Do you have a passion for lighting design and enjoy talking confidently about the value good lighting brings to a home?
Lighting and shading have always been a core part of how LC-AV designs and delivers residential technology. We are not an AV company simply moving into lighting — we already have a deep passion for, and expertise in, lighting design, lighting control, and shading, and this has naturally led to a growing number of projects where lighting is the primary focus rather than AV.
Therefore we’re looking for a Lighting Design Consultant to help expand and grow our lighting design and specification offering across high-end residential projects whilst syncing with the lighting control. This is a design-led, consultative role with a strong client-facing and commercial element, focused on both delivering lighting design and actively promoting it as a core service within LC-AV.
As a fast-growing company, this is an exciting opportunity to work on prestigious residential projects while having the autonomy and flexibility to help shape and grow our lighting offering.
Who you are:
- you’re hungry for a challenge. We’re a small, growing business and this role requires someone who wants to help push boundaries, grow a service, and deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients
- you’re a proactive problem solver who drives progress. You bring ideas to the table and follow them through with a clear plan of action
- you take ownership. You care deeply about the quality of your work and take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks
- you believe the magic is in the details. From lighting layouts to fixture selection, you understand that small decisions have a big impact
- you value collaboration. We work as a team, not as individuals, and support one another to achieve shared goals
- you do the right thing, even when no one is watching. Trust underpins our relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues
- you’re passionate about client experience and enjoy building long-term relationships
- you’re confident discussing design, value, and budgets with clients in a consultative, non-pushy way
What you’ll do
Lighting design and specification:
- produce lighting designs for high-end residential projects, including layouts, conceptual designs and fixture selection
- develop technical lighting specifications and schedules in coordination with architects, interior designers, and contractors
- ensure lighting designs complement architectural intent, interiors, and how clients want to live in their homes
- produce lighting drawings and keep revisions updated throughout the project
Consultative sales and client engagement:
- actively promote LC-AV’s lighting design service to clients and design teams
- confidently explain the value of lighting design and help clients understand why it matters
- support the growth of lighting design revenue by engaging in early-stage project discussions
- network with architects, interior designers, and other partners to help expand LC-AV’s lighting offering
Specification, supply and coordination:
- coordinate the specification and supply of lighting fittings
- liaise with suppliers to ensure design intent is maintained through procurement and delivery
- manage supply to site and liase with build team re any queries
Service growth and development:
- progress towards helping evolve LC-AV’s lighting design service from a case-by-case offering into a core part of the business
- contribute ideas around how lighting design and lighting control can be better integrated and presented to clients
- support the development of internal standards, processes, and documentation for lighting design
Lighting control and technical development:
- work alongside the AV and control systems team to ensure lighting designs align with control solutions
- develop technical knowledge of lighting control systems over time, with training and support provided
- grow into a lighting specialist role from both a design and control perspective
We recognise this is a fairly wide and varied scope and are not necessarily looking for a candidate to be experienced in all these elements. We are happy to mentor and train the right candidate to expand into elements of this role that they may not be immediately familiar or experienced with.
Additional expectations:
- while we respect work-life balance and have systems in place to protect your time, there may be occasions where flexibility is required to support clients or projects
- we offer flexibility where possible — finish early when work allows, but be prepared to put in additional effort when projects demand it
- most of our work is London-based, but occasional travel may be required for projects further afield
Why this role exists
In recent years, a significant proportion of our work has been lighting-led projects, often independent of wider AV scopes. Until now, lighting design has been delivered on a case-by-case basis rather than as a formally structured service.
This role exists to build on that momentum — to champion lighting design as a dedicated offering within LC-AV, help clients and design teams understand its value, and develop it into a core, clearly defined part of our business alongside our established lighting control and shading expertise.
