Something Collective (SoCo) is a specialist community engagement agency. We are a small dynamic team dedicated to empowering communities through inclusive decision-making processes in built environment projects. Our work ranges from revitalising parks and public spaces to large-scale neighbourhood regeneration initiatives for a range of clients from local authorities to developers.
Our approach is to develop high impact, engaging, and creative collaborations that enable diverse participation. We support built environment professionals to speak openly and accessibly about their ambitions, and we support local communities to have a voice in the creative and decision-making process of change.
Our team come from a variety of backgrounds and specialisms including architecture, graphic and product design, planning and local government, all with a common love for working with people. Who we’re looking for
The people person: Someone who enjoys working with and talking to people to help create better neighbourhoods, towns and cities.
The designer: You’ll have excellent Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator) skills. You should have a great eye for detail and ability to communicate creatively. You will have a strong visual eye, whether you have a background in design, architecture, or a social science.
The facilitator: You are empathetic, a great listener and quick thinker. You can navigate different types of conversations and opinions and seek constructive outcomes. You will have good people skills to effectively guide discussions and activities during different engagement events from workshops to public exhibitions.
The creative thinker: You will be a creative thinker, intuitive, inquisitive and willing to ask questions. You will have strong problem-solving abilities, with a passion for exploring innovative solutions and approaches to community engagement.
Team player: You’ll be great at working in a small, close-knit team, and understand how an office works. An ability to ‘muck in’ with the team.
What you’ll be doing:
Visual storytelling and design: Developing high-quality, accessible and interesting visual content (infographics, toolkits, workshop exercises and exhibition boards), translating complex projects and plans into relatable, public facing materials.
Facilitation: Working with the team to design and lead workshops, focus groups, and pop-up engagement events. You must be able to hold space for diverse voices, from local residents to major stakeholders and clients.
Strategy and co-production: Working with the team to translate strategies into clearly communicated outputs.
Insights: Analysing and reporting on a range of feedback from public engagement activities including surveys, workshops and exhibitions, delivering insights that will inform future designs, social value and engagement opportunities across clients, architects and the community.

Why this role?
- the salary range for this role is £30,000 – £36,000 depending on experience
- we operate a four-day working week for all employees as standard (Monday – Thursday)

We are Old Street/Shoreditch based.
