Studio Farra is seeking a senior interior designer to join its team in London for a six month period of maternity cover.
The opportunity
Studio Farra is a small but growing studio based in Camberwell, South East London. A team of five, we’re looking for a passionate, self-driven Senior Interior Designer (4+ years experience) to cover a 6-month maternity leave starting late May 2026. This is a chance to step into a leadership role and help shape a young studio with big ideas. You’ll work on high-end residential projects across London and the South West — from a mews house renovation in Paddington to a semi-subterranean new build in the Cotswolds, as well as family homes in Barnes and Hadley Wood.
Role overview
You’ll lead the wider team through all stages of the design process, while also contributing to new business, marketing and the studio’s creative direction. You’ll be client and contractor-facing from day one and responsible for the successful delivery of multiple projects at once. Expect a mix of on-site, studio, and remote work. You’ll be in the studio for a minimum of three days per week with the opportunity to also work remotely around site visits and meetings.
You’re a good fit if you:
- are confident setting the creative direction for high-end residential interior projects
- have a comprehensive knowledge of suppliers in the interior design industry
- have a natural ability to take design ideas in surprising directions and apply materials and finishes in unique ways
- find joy in nurturing and guiding designers in your team
- have the gumption to stick your head above the parapet to positively challenge and shape internal processes, clients and the design process
- bring a spirit of hustle and infectious energy
- have a rich and diverse eye when it comes to style, design, and craft
- thrive in a team-oriented, ego-free environment
- have an eagle eye when it comes to overseeing projects; you’re comfortable switching between a detail-oriented view and a broader oversight on projects
- think creatively, collaboratively, and commercially in equal measure
- present ideas to clients like the stage is yours
- are able to organise workloads for a small team of designers
Hard skills:
- required tools: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop
- nice to have/willing to learn: Canva, Programa, familiarity with AI tools
Responsibility run-down:
- oversee our design team (one mid-weight, one junior and one interior technician) alongside our projects director, with high-level input from our creative director
- lead four to five projects at various design stages (from concept to delivery)
- set and direct the creative vision for each project
- oversee and contribute to the delivery of detailed drawing packages (AutoCAD)
- develop moodboards, concept presentations, FF&E selections
- attend site visits and client meetings
- ensure project timelines and resource planning
- support new business: pitching, lead generation, proposal writing
- contribute to marketing and raising studio visibility
What you’ll get:
- salary: £37,000-42,000 pro rata (depending on experience)
- 13 days paid leave (including public holidays)
- your birthday off (or the closest workday)
- creative freedom and meaningful responsibility
- a collaborative studio culture that supports growth
